2012 Showcase was a Success!
The Culinary Canvas Catering Showcase Event was a magical evening of luxury, lights, entertainment, and some of the best local Italian cuisine. Culinary Canvas Catering created a stunning showcase for their guests from the atmosphere, to the food, to the kindness and warm way in which they greeted and interacted with each of their guests. The venue was half indoor, half outdoor. The outdoor portion of the venue was underneath a covered patio/porch area in a courtyard. The patio was lit up with white twinkle lights that gave the evening some holiday cheer as well as created an elegant warm glow to the evening. Culinary Canvas Catering placed the music provided by Doug Orlando Band (DOB), along with the drinks complimentary of Pour Masters Bartending Services, and scattered several sections of outdoor furniture for guests to lounge in beside a roaring, warm fire. Indoors, Culinary Canvas placed all of the food for sampling amongst a festive golden, red, cranberry, and burnt orange arrangement of flowers, candles, and linens. Appetizer tables with bar stools were scattered throughout the foyer amongst dim candlelight for guests to sit, socialize, and savor the wonderful selections of prepared food brought by Culinary Canvas.
The evening started off with a good crowd of many friends, past clients, and several new faces that were present. Guests mingled and enjoyed meeting the owner Luke Timpe, winning door prizes, relaxing, and munching and savoring delicious cuisine from the hard working staff of Culinary Canvas. Among the menu of the evening were treats and delicious fare such as Italian meat and cheese trays, 40 clove chicken, a light clam sauce over angel hair, bacon wrapped shrimp, stuffed Italian mini chilli peppers, and some savory Italian stuffed mushrooms, just to name a few. Guests raved over the signature Italian Vodka Sauce over gnocchi, stuffed chilli peppers, homemade flatbread pizzas, creamy hummus, and the pumpkin rolls for dessert!
Chef Cory Oppold served up a magnificent and unique dish of Arancini with several components of purees on the side made from basil, olives, red peppers, etc. It was a fun way for guests to test their palette and a delicious and elegant plating of the dish! Not long into the evening we were graced with some rain, which brought our guests mainly indoors, but many enjoyed the fresh air beneath the covered patio amongst the comfortable outdoor furniture and crackling fire pit Culinary Canvas arranged for their guests. The DOB band entertained the guests with a mixture of holiday and classic selections of music. Guests were treated to free complimentary drinks from PourMasters. Several lucky winners enjoyed taking home a door prize from the raffles Culinary Canvas gave away. Among some of the prizes were a dozen homemade assortment of biscotti (made by Culinary Canvas Catering), a Starbucks gift basket, a spa certificate; and several guests went home with delicious pumpkin rolls for the holidays. Culinary Canvas created a stunning showcase for their guests and created an amazing, elegant, cozy evening for everyone.
Culinary Canvas would like to thank everyone who came out to support our first annual showcase event! We enjoyed each and every one of the guests and look forward to making a lasting relationship with you in the future for successful and delicious Italian cuisine! Culinary Canvas would also like to say a special thank you to Sherri Brown Anderson (designer and special events architect and owner Last Resort Events & Special Occasions), Chef Cory Oppold, and the hardworking crew of cooks from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. A special thanks goes out to the DOB band for entertaining us all evening with a great selection of songs and talent as well as PourMasters, and Munkeboe Party Linen Rentals for providing the table linens. Culinary Canvas would also like to thank Last Resort Events & Special Occasions for helping with set-up and transporting items to/from the venue. The evening would not have been a success without any of the help these talented individuals gave. We appreciate each and every one and the efforts they put into making this event an evening of delightful food and fun.

What’s New This Week 7/16/2012
Hello All! We have a busy and exciting week coming up for culinary Canvas Catering. We’ve recently become members of LocalFirst Arizona! This is an incredible organization dedicated to promoting local business first around Arizona. You can find local businesses from pest control to catering who are members of LocalFirst. In this largely corporate, cookie cutter world we live in today with a Starbucks every few city blocks, it’s hard for most local entrepreneurs to get noticed and compete with corporate America. Local business has many benefits that get overlooked easily because they aren’t mainstream or the most noticed at times. Local often means quality and better service. For example, my husband not long ago needed our refrigerator repaired. Since it was a GE brand fridge, he called the 1-800 number listed for customer service and repairs only to receive an extremely cold/unfriendly voice at the other end of the line. They immediately greeted him with a “number of appliance please”, instead of a “hello, welcome to blah blah blah, what can I do for you today?” Thinking that maybe the person on the other end was just having a rough day we brushed off the cold customer service and called back another time to reschedule our appointment because it conflicted with our schedule. Again my husband was greeted with “number of appliance, please” instead of a hi, hello, what can i do for you today, etc. GE customer service was not in any way shape or form interested in our problem, interested in who we were, what our concerns were, or even our names. Not that our names and an emotional connection have anything to do directly with our refrigerator needing repaired, but good customer service goes a LONG way with people. We canceled our appointment with GE and looked online for a local appliance repairman. BINGO! We found a local guy in our area not far away who had fantastic ratings from locals. We figured we’d give it a spin, so we called. We got a hold of a secretary who took down our information and said the appliance guy would get back to us asap. Not even a few hours later the man returned our call with an extremely friendly demeanor and made time in his already busy schedule to swing by and fit us in. He showed up that week, looked at our fridge, told us what was wrong, and repaired it. He was extremely friendly, efficient, and timely in taking care of us and more importantly made us feel we were important and that he wanted our business. Now that is what LOCAL can give you. You can keep your GE customer service! By the way, our awesome appliance repairman’s name is Mr. Steven Wright , and you can find out about his services at Wright’s Appliance Repair.
Local First also helps local business owners and members network and spread the good word about all the wonderful local businesses and services our neighborhoods provide. We support each other by committing to support local businesses and promoting others to the public. This organization also helps local business owners by providing newsletters and seminars on helpful information to help grow a healthy business. This week I am headed to an SEO seminar and I couldn’t be more excited to hopefully gain more insight into how SEO works and how to apply it to our business; as well as hopefully meet some members of LocalFirst! Find out more information on LocalFirst or becoming a member at http://www.localfirstaz.com/.
Happy Monday Everyone!
We also have some new updates to the website coming soon! We are working on editing some photos of previous events in the past year and some close up food shots! Check back for some delicious looking surprises to our photo gallery!
